Kapiti Rd between Larch St and Milne Rd

Kapiti Road Larch Drive to Milne Road
No shoulder available for cyclists, walkers or mobility scooters.

Rimu Rd roundabout to Ngahina St

No shoulder available for cyclists, walkers or mobility scooters

Ngahina St to Larch St

Kapiti Road: Ngahina to Milne Rd Grassed strip, but no mountable kerb.

Raumati shops and Marine Parade

Motorized traffic cutting the corner around the Outcrop bend just after the shops on the western side of the road. Lane markings with cycle symbols around the bend would keep cyclists safe here.

Matai St and Kapiti Rd

Blocking Cych2sts at Matai Road, Raumati
Road narrowing does not have a slip through for cyclists: as there is little or no gap the bike rider is forced to go closer to the centre line.

Speed humps at the Community Centre, Paraparaumu

This is a well used route for cyclists, an alternative to going through the roundabout at Kapiti/Rimu Rd. A gap of 1 to 1.5 feet space from the kerb on both sides would allow cyclists to slip through.

Tasman Rd, Otaki, across from Robert McKeen St

A disappearing shoulder at Robert McKeen St, Otaki
Cyclists have to cross here to get onto the shared path, however there is no shoulder at the bend for waiting on until the road is clear. This creates dangerous situations when there is traffic both from behind and towards the cyclist.

Poplar Ave

The new path constructed recently is dangerous for cyclists at night due to the car lights blinding cyclists on the path.

Paraparaumu library and Council buildings

Parking in front of these buildings is hazardous for cyclists. This is a busy thoroughfare for cyclists. Reverse parking would allow cyclists to feel safer here.

Rimu Rd roundabout

Allow cyclists an off-road path from Kapiti Rd to Rimu Rd circumventing the roundabout. This would mean letting the path run through the lawn in front of the police station.

Te Roto Rd

Lane and forward stop box needed for right turns and a slip lane for left turns.

Rosetta Rd, Raumati

Cyclists are forced into the carriageway. The road is too narrow to allow a cycle lane.

Wharemauku Rd, Raumati

Cycle lane disappears — asphalt edge forms a groove to trap wheels and motorists cut the corner here.

Kapiti Rd at Arowhata Rd

Kapiti Rd at Arowhata Rd
Lane disappears. Cyclists should be lead onto a marked cycle lane to cross this busy road.

Ratanui towards Otaihanga Rd

Mountable curb required at the slipway.

There is a great little slipway from Ratanui into Otaihanga but cyclists need to continue on the footpath as there is a high curb and no way to get off it. Coming back in the other direction cyclists can't get on the slipway so need to go through the vehicle crossing into Ratanui, which is not an ideal place to cross.
